The "Remove Associations" workflow action allows removing associations between objects in HubSpot. It supports all standard objects (contacts, companies, deals, tickets) and custom objects. By providing flexibility in defining the object type, properties, and search criteria, it empowers users to maintain precise control over their data associations within HubSpot.
Configuration
Associated Object Type
Click the dropdown menu and select the type of object (Company, Contact, Deal, Ticket, or a custom object) from which you want to remove associations.
Example: if you're running a Contact-based workflow and want to remove associations with Tickets, choose Tickets in this field.
Search Associated Objects (yes/no)
Decide whether to search for specific objects. Choose Yes to specify criteria for objects to disassociate, or No to remove associations from all objects of the selected type.
Find Object Property
If you chose Yes in the previous step, select the property you want to use to identify objects — for example, "Company Domain Name."
Search Method
Select the method for matching objects. Options include Is equal to and Contains a token. Choose Is equal to for an exact match.
Find Property Value
Enter the value that the selected property must match for the association to be removed. You can also use tokens (like contact properties) by selecting "Contact token."
Post-execution queue and timing
After the "Remove Associations" action is executed in a HubSpot workflow, it does not immediately remove associations. Instead, the action places a task in the processing queue. The actual disassociation occurs asynchronously, allowing HubSpot to handle multiple requests efficiently without hitting HubSpot API rate limits.
Estimated processing time
Each object enrolled in the workflow for association removal is processed individually. On average, the removal task for one object takes approximately 10–20 seconds. Therefore, if your workflow has enrolled a significant number of objects, you should expect a corresponding increase in total processing time.
